The machine is built on a substantial base of electrowelded
heat-treated stress-relieved steel. Operating units, spindle
mountings and the workpiece table are made of cast iron, heavily
reinforced to insure maximum accuracy.
Hydraulic oil pump with sealed tank mounted inside the base
of the machine to minimize machine floor space.
The table and operating units slide on hardened and ground steel
bars of 50 mm (2”) diameter. The table moves on special
self-lubricating material. These systems have evolved from
many years of testing and modifying and allows for vibration-free
movements, even when the table is being driven forward at extremely
slow speeds.
Adjustment of the forward table speed can be either manual or
automatic. The operator can manually adjust the machine
by means of a lever on the front side of the machine. Speed
can be automatically controlled by means of cams and limit switches,
or the operator can use the lever to vary or maintain speed as
necessary during the working cycle.
Repeatable results are insured by easy workpiece positioning
through adjustable stops, which are synchronized to be positioned
by air when the table returns to the starting position.
The machine is equipped with six (2500 mm length capacity) adjustable
and tilt able clamping cylinders, any number of which may be
used depending upon the workpiece size. Hexagonal shafts
prevent any possible play and assure positive hold on the workpiece
throughout the working cycle.
Copy bearings are equipped with wipers to prevent dust of chip
accumulation during the working process. The bearing can
be inverted 180 degrees to obtain two different copying levels,
allowing different points of entry onto the workpiece.
Working units are mounted with three upper bearing supports,
two of which are angular contact bearings, allowing for the use
of large HP motors (up to 20 HP on request) and making it unnecessary
to have a bottom bearing support, facilitating tool changes.
Swiveling of all heads from 0 to 10 degrees by means of just
one adjustment while maintaining the cutters in the same position.
The machine is equipped with the most efficient dust-collection
system available. In addition to the usual hoods located
behind the working heads, the machine also has a chip evacuation
feature for chip removal below the operating units.
